Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers is thrilled to have Dr. Keith Slayden join our practice as a consultative optometrist. He graduated with honors from the Southern College of Optometry, located in Memphis, TN after attending the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate degree in Mathematics.
While at Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Slayden spent time in various specialty clinics including primary care, ocular disease, pediatrics, contact lens, vision therapy, and low vision. He then received additional training in the areas of ocular disease and primary care during internships here at Bennett and Bloom and Richmond Eye Care Centers located in Richmond, KY. Dr. Slayden completed a 13-month post-doctoral training in ocular disease with Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers, where he became extremely proficient in the treatment of dry eye and glaucoma, as well as the complexities of pre- and post-operative cataract, corneal and LASIK surgeries. He is a co-curator for Retina Rocks, the world’s largest online multimedia retina image library and bibliography repository.
Dr. Slayden was awarded for Clinical Excellence by the Southern College of Optometry and also received his Student Fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry. He was very involved in Fellowship of Christian Optometrists while in school. He has served on multiple mission trips to Haiti and helped lead a mission trip to Nicaragua to provide eye care.
Dr. Slayden graduated as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, American Optometric Student Association, the Kentucky Optometric Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
