Dr. Aparna Shah joined Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers in 2018 as a cornea, cataract and refractive surgeon. Dr. Shah is originally from Canada, but she grew up in central Michigan. She graduated with honors from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Dr. Shah earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and went on to complete her internship and ophthalmology residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. She then completed a cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic where she learned cutting edge corneal transplant and laser vision correction surgical techniques. While there, she received the Best Fellow Research Paper and Presentation Award for her work on DMEK (corneal transplant) surgery techniques.
Throughout her training, Dr. Shah has authored several research publications pertaining to the field and has presented her work at numerous national ophthalmic meetings. She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
In her free time, Dr. Shah is passionate about traveling and fitness. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
