Chad Herschberger, OD – Optometric Resident

Dr. Chad Herschberger joined Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers in 2023 as a resident optometrist to pursue his post-doctoral training in ocular disease. Originally from Nappanee Indiana, he received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from Indiana University South Bend. He then attended Indiana University School of Optometry where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. 

While at Indiana University School of Optometry, Dr. Herschberger completed externship training with an emphasis in ocular disease at the Tallahassee VA Medical Center, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Center in Bethel Alaska, as well as Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers. During his externship at Indiana University, he also received advanced training in other optometric subspecialties such as binocular vision, pediatrics, low vision, and specialty contact lenses. 

Dr. Herschberger took part in leadership roles in multiple organizations while attending Indiana University including the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, Ocular Disease Club, and as an Associate Instructor of Binocular Vision. He has also received multiple awards for clinical excellence on the state and national level including the American Academy of Optometry J. Pat Cummings Award, the American Academy of Optometry Practice Excellence Award, and the Indiana Optometric Association Alice J. Bennett Memorial Award.  Dr. Herschberger is a member of the Gold Key International Honor Society, the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, the Kentucky Optometric Association, and the Indiana Optometric Association. He married his wife, Havuka, in May of 2023 and enjoys hiking and climbing in his free time.
