Meet Dr. Gibson

William T. Gibson, O.D., F.A.A.O., is an optometrist at Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers, serving patients in the Louisville area.

Dr. Gibson, an Alabama native, earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University with Summa Cum Laude honors. He then earned his doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, where he graduated in the top ten percent of his class. After graduation, Dr. Gibson completed his 13-month ocular disease residency at Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers in 2021. During his residency, Dr. Gibson focused on managing conditions such as glaucoma, uveitis, corneal disease, dry eye disease, retinal pathology, and neuro-ophthalmic disorders. He also gained extensive experience with pre- and post-operative care for cataract, glaucoma, retina, and cornea surgeries. Prior to returning to Bennett & Bloom in 2025, he practiced in Atlanta for four years.

Dr. Gibson enjoys helping patients who are underserved. He has organized and lead international trips to provide comprehensive eye care to patients in Panama and Belize through Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. He has attended multiple Remote Area Medical trips in Tennessee. He thoroughly enjoys educating students and other doctors on medical eye care.

Dr. Gibson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He is also a member of the American Optometric Association and the Kentucky Optometric Association. Outside of clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, and traveling.
