Zach Tarter, M.D. is a comprehensive ophthalmologist at Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers, serving the Elizabethtown and Owensboro areas. His clinical interests include cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and the medical management of retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
Dr. Tarter joined Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers in 2025 as a surgical & consultative ophthalmologist. A Kentucky native, Dr. Tarter earned his undergraduate degree in Human Health Sciences from the University of Kentucky, graduating summa cum laude. He went on to graduate with High Distinction from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and stayed at the University of Kentucky for his ophthalmology residency. During his training, he participated in the global ophthalmology track, gaining experience in addressing eye care disparities both locally and internationally.
Dr. Tarter is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Outside of medicine, he enjoys staying active and spending time with family and friends.
