Dr. Branden Shaffer has joined Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers as an Ocular Disease Resident. Originally from Naperville, IL, he received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Indiana University. Dr. Shaffer went on to graduate with honors from Indiana University School of Optometry.
Dr. Shaffer’s training was focused on the treatment and management of ocular disease. He completed externships at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, The Villages VA Outpatient Clinic in The Villages, FL, and at Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers. He also received experience in other specialty clinics including contact lens, low vision, and primary care at Indianapolis Eye Care Center.
During his time at Indiana University, Dr. Shaffer was an associate instructor for the Ophthalmic Optics course. He participated in the MLK Day of Vision Volunteer event four consecutive years. Additionally, he received the EF Wildermuth Foundation Harriet Slaughter Fellowship Scholarship and the Joseph Elmer Sidwell and Trula Sidwell Hardy Optometry Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
Dr. Shaffer is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, the Kentucky Optometric Association, and American Optometric Association.
