Not a candidate for LASIK?
The Visian ICL™ may be your answer!
If you have always wanted LASIK, but have been told you’re not a candidate because you are too nearsighted or your corneas are too thin, your answer could be here–the Visian ICL™! With the ICL, we can now help many people who we previously could not help see without their glasses and contacts!
The Visian ICL™ is an implantable lens made of a soft biocompatible material, similar to that of a soft contact lens. Unlike a contact lens, the ICL is permanently positioned inside your eye behind the iris (the colored part of your eye) and in front of the natural lens. In this position, the ICL remains invisible and corrects your vision without causing many of the optical aberrations that occur from laser treatments to the cornea for higher degrees of nearsightedness.
You are a good candidate for the Visian ICL™ if you are between the ages of 21 to 45, have between -3D to -20D of nearsightedness and no more than 2.5D of astigmatism, and have had stable refraction (prescription) for at least one year. Other conditions may also be a factor so a thorough pre-surgical evaluation from one of our doctors is necessary to ensure your eligibility.
The procedure to implant the Visian ICL™ takes only about 10 minutes, but expect to spend several hours at our surgical center. After preparations, an anesthetic will be administered to ensure you are relaxed and comfortable. The ICL is implanted through a small, less than 1/8-inch incision which self-seals without stitches. Typically, there is no pain during or following your procedure. You will be examined about an hour after the procedure before you go home.
The Visian ICL™ is designed to give a lifetime of vision correction. In fact, in FDA clinical trials, three years after surgery 99.4% of patients were satisfied with their results. However, unlike other vision correction procedures, if there are major changes in your vision, the ICL can easily be removed and replaced, or another procedure can be performed to enhance the function of the ICL.
Our doctors have performed thousands of lens implantation procedures and continue to be some of the most experienced and skilled surgeons in the area. So, if you have been waiting for the answer to your vision problems, don’t wait any longer. The Visian ICL™ is here! Contact our Vision Correction team today to schedule your complimentary evaluation.
