Visx WaveScan
Wavefront System
The WaveScan system uses wavefront technology,
which was originally developed for use in high-powered telescopes
to reduce distortions when viewing distant objects in space. This
technology has now been applied to laser vision correction. This
wavefront refractive technology provides a WavePrint™–a
unique fingerprint of the patient's vision that displays the refractive
errors and aberrations (irregularities) of the eye.
The WaveScan system provides Dr. Bennett with three types of maps
to help diagnose and treat each individual eye.
- Acuity Map – Displays the optical
aberrations
- Difference Map – Tracks the changes
in the eye over time
- Point Spread Function (PSF) –
Shows how you may see a point source of light through all of the
aberrations before correction
The WaveScan system is a key element in
the CustomVue™ procedure. For more information contact
