Vision correction surgery is not right for everyone. So, a thorough
evaluation is necessary to determine your eligibility. At Bennett
& Bloom Eye Centers, we will never recommend a procedure if we
are not absolutely certain it is right for your eyes. We are lucky
to live in a time in which technology is improving on a daily basis,
and many procedures are being developed or enhanced to correct most
common vision problems.
In order to be considered for any of our vision correction surgery
alternatives, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a stable
glasses or contact lens prescription for at least one year.
When ready for an evaluation, please contact any member of our Vision
Correction Team to schedule your free consultation. As a part of our
commitment to you, we will take the time to provide you with a thorough
evaluation using the top technological diagnostic tools, like the
Zyoptix™ Diagnostic Workstation. Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers
was the first ophthalmic practice in the area to begin using this
innovative tool. The Workstation combines two of the top diagnostic
tools into one work area; thus, allowing our doctors to more accurately
diagnose your eyes than ever before.
The complete evaluation involves a comprehensive examination with
specialized testing to determine which procedure will be right for
you. This extensive evaluation takes approximately 3 hours to complete
and includes a detailed medical history, evaluation of the overall
health of your eyes, precise topographical measurements of the corneal
surface and accurate determination of the surgical correction needed.
During the evaluation, we will discuss the benefits, alternatives
and possible complications with you. At any time if you may have additional
questions, our highly trained staff will be available to help provide
answers. New patients may also want to fill out our new patient and medical history forms prior to your visit as a time saving measure.
If you are a contact lens wearer, we have special requests to ensure
the accuracy of your evaluation. Soft daily wear lenses must be left
out for at least one week, depending on the type of lens and fit;
soft toric or extended wear lenses must be left out for two weeks
and rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses must be left out for at least
three weeks prior to the evaluation.
In addition, we use dilating drops in order to view your eye under
the best possible conditions. Some patients report blurred vision
following the use of these drops. For this reason, we suggest that
you ask a friend or relative to drive you home from your evaluation. |
