Wavefront is an FDA approved, exciting technological advancement
that provides a new level of precision and accuracy by mapping a
fingerprint of the cornea (the front surface of the eye). By capturing
more specific imperfections in the cornea, Dr. Bennett can provide
you with a customized treatment for a vision correction procedure.
At Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers, we use the VISX® STAR S4
laser for a patented process called CustomVue™. CustomVue
was the first wavefront-guided system on the U.S. market to be approved
for both nearsightedness and astigmatism.
An FDA study has shown it has the potential to create better vision
than experienced with glasses or contacts. The results of the VISX
CustomVue study were outstanding. At 12 months after surgery 98%
of patients had 20/20 or better vision, uncorrected! 70% had uncorrected
vision at 20/16 or better and 23% were 20/12.5 or better!
However, this procedure is not for everyone. You must have a thorough
evaluation to see if you are a candidate. People with corneas that
are too thin, or who are farsighted are among those for whom this
